Man killed in Springfield Avenue shooting

Champaign police responded to a report of a shooting on the 2500 block of W. Springfield Avenue on Monday night. According to a CPD release, a 27-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to the statement, the shooting took place in an apartment complex. Police found evidence of gunfire on an apartment door and the man was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound inside of an apartment.

The shooting is currently being investigated and treated as a homicide. As of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
