An Illini-Alert sent at 9:39 p.m. notified subscribers of an aggravated battery that occurred near Fifth and Green streets. The message reported that officers are currently on the scene and recommended passersby to avoid the area.
UPDATE: Sept. 24, 10:08 p.m.
A second Illini-Alert reported the emergency has ended. It is safe to resume regular activities.
