UIPD Chief Matt Ballinger sent a Massmail to University students Friday afternoon regarding a fondling that reportedly occurred Thursday morning.
“The University of Illinois Police Department was informed by a Campus Security Authority that a student was fondled at approximately 1:00 AM on Thursday, 2/20, at a fraternity house,” the email read. “The exact location of the event was not shared with the police.”
The email was sent in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Act, which requires universities to disclose information about certain crimes that happen on or near school property.
The Massmail outlined several ways bystanders can help prevent sexual misconduct within the community. It encourages students to intervene or call the police when they witness others in unsafe situations. It also directed students to resources, including the Connie Frank CARE Center, the Emergency Dean program and the We Care program.
