A bicyclist was injured after being struck by a car just north of the Grainger Engineering Library late Sunday afternoon, according to UIPD.
The initial dispatch for the accident was reported on the METCAD scanner at 4:55 p.m. At 4:56 p.m., officials said over the radio that the patient was not breathing. Soon after, officials said the patient was breathing, “bleeding from the face” and “not very alert.”
According to an email statement from UIPD, the bicyclist was taken to the hospital for treatment, and their status is still unknown. UIPD issued citations to the vehicle driver for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and speeding.
