Road closure on Second Street in Champaign

According to a statement by the city of Champaign, Second Street will be closed between Green Street and John Street from Thursday, June 15 until Friday, June 23, 2023.
Mayfield Construction, a local contractor, will close this section of Second Street in order to install a storm sewer at 112 E. John Street.
According to the statement, through traffic will not be allowed during the closure, but access will be maintained to all local properties.
The city encourages all campus drivers to pay close attention to traffic control devices, use alternate routes to avoid the road closure and asks for patience during the period of construction.
