The Salvation Army of Champaign County will begin its annual “Love Beyond Christmas” campaign at 11 a.m. Friday at the Prairie Gardens, according to a press release.
The campaign aims to raise $200,000, which will help serve about 76,000 people within the community suffering from financial pressure caused by inflation, food insecurity and unstable housing.
The campaign hopes to match the support of the volunteers they had last year. The “Love Beyond Christmas” campaign will deploy 21 Red Kettles at local retailers, including Walmarts, Schnucks, Hobby Lobby and Prairie Gardens, until Dec. 23.
The Salvation Army accepts cash donations in person at the Red Kettles and through online money transfers.
The Salvation Army is a charitable organization affiliated with the Universal Christian Church that helps meet the needs of over 27 million people annually. The organization helps individuals overcome poverty, addiction and economic hardships.
