Carle Health and Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation are teaming up in January to bring new inpatient rehabilitation services to central Illinois. According to a press release, the collaboration includes three locations: Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, Illinois, and Carle Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Illinois.
Currently, Carle Health provides rehab for spinal injuries, sports injuries and strokes. According to its website, Mary Free Bed provides a range of specialized inpatient rehabilitation programs including cardiac, brain and cancer rehab. Carle has not yet said which of these programs will become available locally.
Patients of Carle Health will continue to see their same providers, who will work to combine Mary Free Bed’s specialization in rehabilitative services with Carle Health’s individualized care approach, the press release stated.
“Partnering with Mary Free Bed allows the patients we serve to continue to see the providers they know and trust while bringing advanced knowledge and proven care models to support a better experience for everyone,” wrote Dr. James C. Leonard, Carle Health president and chief executive officer, in the press release.
The Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation system is an alliance of hospitals that originated in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and has inpatient and outpatient locations across Michigan, Indiana, Virginia and West Virginia.
