Spend the day with your furry friend; the Champaign Park District has announced a new event that is perfect for you and your dog! The Lucky Dog 5K will take place on March 14 at 9:30 a.m. at Heritage Park, 2101 W. Bradley Ave. Runners and walkers are all welcome regardless of if they have a dog.
There are several registration options available for participants: The Lucky Dog 5K Run/Walk and Lucky Dog Half-Mile Stroll allow participants to make the trek with their dog for $40, or $25 for participants ages 1-10. The 5K and stroll offer different course maps.
If you don’t have a dog, you can still participate, as the race organizers are offering discounted prices for those without a dog. Registration closes March 14 at 9:30 a.m.
All participants receive a race shirt and a finisher medal, and all dog participants will receive a bag dispenser and pop-up water bowl.
The race organizers encourage runners to arrive early, as there will be a costume contest before the race. Categories for the contest include: Best Dressed Small Dog, Best Dressed Medium Dog, Best Dressed Large dog and Best Overall Human & Dog Duo.
