UIPD released a Campus Safety Notice Tuesday to alert students of a sexual assault that occurred on Saturday.
The victim reported to officers Monday evening that, during an event at the UI Ice Arena, the victim was inappropriately touched by the offender.
“The student reported the offender grabbed their buttocks during an event which was held in the evening,” UIPD said in the email statement. “The offender was unknown to the victim.”
The notice was issued in compliance with the Clery Act, a federal law mandating colleges and universities to report campus crimes, including sexual assault, to student and community safety.
“We have a collective responsibility to support people who have experienced sexual assault and, if we are able, to get involved in sexual assault prevention,” the email said. “Visit wecare.illinois.edu for more information.”
