The Urbana Police Department is seeking information from the public after a Christmas Eve shooting left a store clerk injured. Law enforcement officials are actively searching for a suspect.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 10:44 p.m. on Dec. 24 to the Circle K gas station at 507 W. University Ave. for a report of a shooting with injuries, according to a press release from the UPD.
When officers arrived, they located the store clerk, who had been injured during a robbery. The victim was transported to a local hospital and remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Police described the suspect as a male wearing a black jacket, black pants, sunglasses and a face covering.
The suspect arrived at and fled the scene in a vehicle that was later determined to be stolen, police said. The vehicle was abandoned by the suspect after the robbery and was recovered by Urbana authorities.

Police reminded the public that all individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
