Champaign

An arrest was made on the charge of sexual abuse at Circle K, 1713 W. John St., around 8 p.m. Wednesday. According to the report, the suspect entered the store and committed an act of sexual conduct on the clerk.

Burglary was reported on the 400 block of East Springfield Avenue at around midnight Saturday. According to the report, the unknown offender demanded property and took same by the threat of force.

Aggravated battery was reported near Oak Street and East John Street at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. According to the report, a male University student was cut with a knife by the offender after leaving a frat party.

Burglary from a motor vehicle was reported on the 1900 block of Cunningham Avenue at around noon Sunday. According to the report, the offender entered the victim’s vehicle through an unlocked door and took spare change from the center console.

University

An 18-year-old male was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for theft at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. According to the report, the man attempted to leave the store without paying for a $17.50 textbook and a $16 T-Shirt. Police were called by store security, who saw him try to leave without paying.

A 20-year-old male was arrested for unlawful weapon and resisting a police officer near University Avenue and Fifth Street around 3:30 a.m. Friday. According to the report, the suspect was initially stopped because he proceeded straight from a left-turn-only lane. The suspect resisted officers’ attempts to handcuff him after a gun was found in his waistband.
