All but one of Illinois’ 11 regions have moved or returned into Phase 4 of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s “Restore Illinois” plan, the penultimate phase before widespread vaccinations allow for a return to typical activities.  

All except for Region 4 have sustained a seven-day rolling test positivity rate below 8%, an intensive care unit capacity above 20% and a hospitalization rate that’s stable or decreasing. 

In Champaign County and the surrounding Region 6, test positivity rates continue to drop — the seven-day average test positivity rate has slid below 5% for both, excluding the University’s tests.  

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District confirmed another 133 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, pushing the county active case count to 636. 

So far, CUPHD has confirmed 235 new cases in February. On Monday, the district reported three additional deaths from the virus. 

Meanwhile, another 138 people have been ordered to quarantine after potential exposure to the virus, while 129 have been released from quarantine. 

Four more county residents have been hospitalized for the virus. As of Wednesday, 29 county residents are hospitalized for COVID-19. 

At Carle Foundation Hospital, 58 people from Champaign and surrounding counties are currently hospitalized for the virus, including 11 in the ICU. Across all Carle Health locations, 73 patients are hospitalized for COVID-19.
