A man was shot outside of Carle Hospital in Urbana around 6 p.m. on Thursday.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, left Carle Hospital and went outside to meet someone in a vehicle near the circle drive. As he was walking up to the vehicle, another vehicle approached and fired a single shot at the victim, grazing him in the head.

The victim sustained no life-threatening injuries and was rushed into Carle’s emergency room. He was treated and released.

Police believe that this “was not a random shooting incident and the victim was likely targeted,” according to a Urbana Police Department press release sent out on Thursday night.

Carle released a statement on Facebook addressing the incident.
