UI student arrested, faces battery charge

A University student was arrested at 2:14 p.m. last Friday for aggravated battery and mob action during a fraternity party.

In a statement from the University of Illinois Police Department Division of Public Safety today, police identified Ryan Robinson, 22, as “the aggressor in an April 8 incident where another UI student was held down and battered during a party at Theta Xi fraternity.”

On April 10, UIPD released a statement describing the incident that occurred on April 8. 

According to the statement, the victim confronted another person who pushed his girlfriend. The offender’s friends then restrained the victim while the offender punched him.

The victim received treatment for facial injuries at a local hospital.

Theta Xi is located at 205 E. Armory Ave., Champaign, Illinois, and Robinson is listed as the vice president of the fraternity, according to its website
