In a press release on Wednesday, the University of Illinois Alumni Association announced that David Bambrey would be appointed the next president of the organization. Bambrey has been serving as the association’s interim president since the passing of the former president, Jennifer Dillavou, in May.
Before assuming the interim presidency, Bambrey served as the vice president of alumni and student engagement at the UIAA for over five years, according to the statement. He also worked at Ohio University Alumni Association as the interim assistant vice president of alumni relations and executive director.
“Under David’s leadership, we anticipate a renewed energy in our alumni engagement efforts, all while honoring the remarkable legacy left by our former president,” Chancellor Robert J. Jones said in the statement.
To celebrate the appointment of David Bambrey, UIAA will host a welcome event on Sept. 19 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center, the statement said.
The event aims to meet the new president and create conversations between alumni, faculty, staff and community members, the statement said. At the event, the UIAA will also talk about their vision for the future.
