State Senator Paul Faraci announced Monday that the state will be contributing $7.4 million in grants to the Illinois State Board of Education to help high school students prepare for careers in education.
Champaign Unit 4 School District, located inside Senator Faraci’s district, is set to receive a total of $300,000 dollars over the next three years.
“Funding like this helps equip our youth with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in our workforce,” said Faraci, D-Champaign, in the press release. “An investment in the futures of our students is an investment in our community and economy.”
The grant is set to help the Career and Technical Education Career Pathway by allowing students to learn about the education career field. The CTE also aims to increase diversity in the state’s education workforce.
The ISBE has provided a total of $24.8 million in grants to almost 12,000 Illinois high school students across 212 districts and three community colleges in recent years. These grants were awarded to 18 entities serving across 39 school districts.

“Teaching is a career that changes lives,” said State Superintendent of Education Dr. Tony Sanders. “A career in education allows teachers to shape the future while finding deep personal fulfillment. These grants are ensuring that our students are not just prepared but inspired to step into the classroom and make a difference for generations to come.”
