Donald Trump was elected the 47th president Wednesday morning. He is the second president in the United States to win two non-consecutive terms.
The Associated Press called the race at 5:38 a.m. when Trump earned 292 electoral votes as of Wednesday morning, securing battleground states like Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
“After the greatest political comeback in American history, we’re going to lead the greatest economic comeback in American history under Donald Trump’s leadership,” said Vice President-elect JD Vance in an acceptance speech in Florida with Trump.
Vice President Kamala Harris called Trump to concede Wednesday afternoon and emphasize the importance of a peaceful transition of power, the AP reported.
