On Thursday, George Tekei, who stared as Mr. Sulu on “Star Trek,” spoke at the University of Illinois. His lecture encouraged people from different backgrounds to work together to promote diversity. The Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resources organized the lecture. Tekei sat with the Daily Illini to share his life experiences.
