The cause of former University student and Lambda Chi Alpha member Patrick Cassidy’s death will not be officially determined until the Champaign County Coroner receives the results of toxicology reports done after his autopsy, the Urbana Police Department said Tuesday.

The department responded to a call at 8:25 a.m. on Oct. 10, from east Florida Avenue, said Sgt. Dan Morgan of the Urbana Police Department’s investigation division.

Cassidy, a Parkland College student at the time of his death, was then transported to Carle Foundation Hospital. An autopsy was performed that day, Morgan said.

Representatives from Carle Foundation Hospital, however, said that they did not have any information on Cassidy’s cause of death.

The Champaign County Coroner did not return a phone call for comment.

Morgan said toxicology reports usually take about four weeks to process. Once the tests are complete, the coroner can hold an inquest, or a public hearing about the cause of Cassidy’s death, or issue a death certificate stating the cause of death.

Cassidy was born Nov. 20, 1986. According to his Facebook profile, he was a 2005 graduate of Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn, Ill.

A wake and funeral service for Cassidy will be held at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home in Wheaton, Ill. His wake will take place from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and his funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

“He was full of energy,” said Jason Agrimonti, senior in LAS and one of Cassidy’s roommates, on Monday. “He was just that kind of person.”
