The La Casa Cultural Latina murals will leave campus, but will stay preserved.

The University will remove the art from the center located on Chalmers Street and move it to the Parma Conservation in Chicago. Terry Dowd will complete the project.

The murals, originally painted in 1974, were an effort to prevent the Latino Cultural Center from closing.

This is a culmination of several years of preservation efforts.

The removal of exterior walls begins Wednesday and goes until Friday. After that, the walls will be removed and sent to the Parma Conservation until the end of the month.
