Krannert Center awarded $20,000 grant
June 29, 2017
The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts is receiving an Art Works award of $20,000 after Jane Chu, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) chairman, approved more than $82 million to fund art projects all over the country.
The money will be used to expand its presentation of artistry, create residencies and engagement opportunities and expand The IMPACT of the Arts for Youth, the Center’s youth series which is open to grades Pre-Kindergarten through high school, according to a press release.
The NEA is an independent agency of the United States federal government which offers support and funding for projects that show artistic brilliance. It was created in 1965 by an act of the U.S. Congress. They provide support for many artistic fields, including design and media arts.
The support of the NEA allows equal access to the arts in every community across America and provides Americans the opportunity to participate in the arts to exercise their imaginations.
The NEA received 1,728 Art Works applications but will only be making 1,029 grants. The grants range between $10,000 and $100,000.
