Local mayors establish Beckman Institute Day

The Beckman Institute is located at 405 N Mathews Ave. in Urbana. The mayors of Champaign and Urbana, along with the village president of Savoy will announce Oct. 2 as Beckman Institute day to celebrate it’s 30th anniversary.

As Beckman Institute celebrates its 30th anniversary, the mayors of Champaign and Urbana and the village president of Savoy will establish Oct. 2 as Beckman Institute Day.

The official proclamation will be made at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday in the atrium of Beckman Institute, 405 N. Mathews Ave. Mayors Diane Marlin of Urbana and Deborah Frank Feinen of Champaign and Village President of Savoy Joan Dykstra will be making the proclamation.

After the proclamation, an encore performance of “Quantum Rhapsodies” will take place featuring live music from the Jupiter String Quartet and more.

Beckman’s popup escape room will also take place in part of the celebration as well as a lecture on interdisciplinary science and a science showcase, both on Thursday.
