Letter: Chieh’s error
October 8, 2004
Jeff Chieh, in his Monday letter, “Democrats on terrorism,” makes the argument that President Clinton failed to capture or kill Bin Laden when he had the chance. Chieh then draws the unsupportable conclusion that this is a reason not to elect another Democrat as commander-in-chief.
However, Clinton is not running for re-election; President Bush, who not only failed to capture or kill Bin Laden when given the opportunity – but also created the completely unnecessary fiasco in Iraq – is. These all are reasons, then, even by Chieh’s own logic, not to re-elect this Republican as our commander-in-chief.
