Letter: Reaction unjustified

I think your reaction to the comic strip on Nov. 5 was unjustified. Every other strip in the comics section has poked fun at someone at some time. They’ve used homosexuals, sorority and fraternity members; whites, hispanics, blacks. Why all of a sudden do you strip ‘i hate pam’ from your newspaper because of a reference to a stereotype that many Jews will joke about themselves?

If you censor ‘i hate pam,’ you must censor every comic, at which point I will most likely stop reading The Daily Illini. The Daily Illini’s double standard on this issue is appalling. Perhaps instead of bending over to every complaint you receive, you could get some nerve and tell people to deal with it. Maybe you can publish their letters on the opinions page.
