Letter: I should have gone to Michigan

As a morally and fiscally conservative Republican, I found Brian Pierce’s Tuesday column (“Another reason Illinois is better than Michigan”) to be a distasteful and inaccurate portrayal of the overall Republican view on this campus. Although Justin Randall seems to be a pro-choice Republican who supports gay marriage, it does not necessarily mean that he represents the entire Republican Party on this campus.

Not all Republicans on this campus are Republicans simply because they are from rich families. In fact, there are people with morals at the University of Illinois. The only “choice” in pro-choice is the choice not to have meaningless premarital sex. Furthermore, human beings, along with all other animals, reproduce by means of heterosexual relations, thus creating the basis for marriage and the traditional family.

The day when homosexual sex produces a child will be the day I support gay marriage.
