Letter to the Editor: J.B. Pritzker is the only real progressive choice for governor
February 21, 2018
When I look for people to vote for, I look into their record and what they’ve done in the past.
That’s why I’m supporting J.B. Pritzker for governor.
Pritzker has spent the past 20 years fighting for bold progressive policies that have improved people’s lives.
His work led to the expansion of early childhood education to thousands of children across the state and made Illinois a leader in pre-K education. He also worked to expand school breakfast programs.
He’s marched for LGBTQ rights, women’s rights, a fairer tax system and collective bargaining rights. He’s the only candidate endorsed and supported by over 20 unions, including the Illinois Federation of Teachers, with which the Graduate Employees’ Organization is affiliated, the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations and Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois.

When it comes to other candidates, their records don’t pass the test.
Daniel Biss actively worked to cut middle class retirement plans, leading the charge for an unconstitutional pension bill. He proclaims to support single payer but voted against it twice in Springfield. He says he’s against Mike Madigan but voted for him as speaker. He says he’s against special interest groups, but he has a long record of accepting thousands of dollars from big banks, lobbyists and pharmaceutical companies. He even ran a super PAC himself.
In elections, records matter. I’m supporting the candidate whose platform matches his record, not some career politician who flips on issues now that he’s running for governor. That’s why I’m supporting Pritzker for governor.
