"We really wanted to do some really fun advertising things beyond just the realm of posters," Hohe said. "We wanted to do something fun that would both function as, like, a practice for the models for the runway, as in, like, not get distracted by people going like what is going on."

"Something that we don't see a lot at U of I is, we don't really see people doing a runway on the (Main) Quad," Hohe said. "It's a very typical space for mass gathering, so for us it makes sense, but I don't think it's a thing that's ever been done before. And we really wanted to make our mark be confusing yet mysterious and also have people intrigued."

The theme of CFE.3 is "Dance Macabre, an allegory on horror," something that Hohe said much thought went into.

"So this specific theme revolves around horror as performing," Hohe said. "Danse Macabre is medieval song of the dead in French, and basically what it does is it's supposed to remind you about the frivolous nature of life and immortal nature of our being. In a similar way, we related that to the Circular Fashion Expo because the event itself is promoting a circular economy."

"So the theme works as a metaphor for the event's purpose."
