Jeremiah Tilmon commits to Illinois

Tilmon is John Groce’s biggest recruit yet.

Illinois men’s basketball head coach John Groce has landed his biggest recruit with the addition of  five-star recruit Jeremiah Tilmon.

Tilmon, the No. 23 player in the country according to 247sports.com and the No. 1 player in the state of Illinois, committed to the Illini on Monday.

The announcement came via Twitter, where Tilmon made the announcement on his personal account.

Tilmon is from East Saint Louis, and is currently enrolled at La Lumiere school in La Porte, Indiana. He is the 29th ranked player in ESPN’s Top 100, 19th by Scout and 24th by Rivals.

The center is listed at 6-foot-9, 215 pounds by ESPN.

Tilmon will join four-star point guard DaMonte Williams and three-star Javon Pickett in the class of 2017.

Tilmon had offers from Indiana, Michigan State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Texas and UCLA.
