Date set for Pride Festival

The 7th Annual Pride Festival and Parade is scheduled to begin on September 10 and 11 in Downtown Champaign.

Pride festivities will begin on Saturday, Sept. 10 at noon at Big Grove Tavern with LGBTQ-focused workshops and seminars led by community agencies and members.

The parade, which is hosted by the Uniting Pride (UP) Center of Champaign County, will depart at 3 p.m. from downtown Champaign. A map of the route is available on the UP Center’s website 

Nightlife will also be a big part of this two-day festival, with live music and drag shows playing inside and outside The Accord on Main Street. Also returning this year is the Drag Brunch at V Picasso on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m.

The 2016 Pride Festival and Parade are planned by community volunteers and the UP Center of Champaign County.
