Champaign to enforce Campus Move In/Move Out Cleanliness

By Daily Illini Staff Report

The City of Champaign will be more strict with trash overflow when students are moving in and out of dorms and apartments around campus.

The focus will be on preventing an overflow of dumpsters.

Those owning properties will receive notices when the Neighborhood Code Compliance Staff notices that there is an overflowing dumpster. If the owner fails to remove the trash, the owner will be billed for the cost and a $100 fee.

To reduce waste, there is another event called “Feed The Thing” that will reduce cardboard piling up in dumpsters. It will take place from Aug. 12 to Aug. 22 at several bins across campus.

The Campus Move In/Move Out Cleanliness will take place from Aug. 8 to Aug. 26 which is the first Friday of the fall semester.
