Illini sign power forward

By Courtney Linehan

Six-foot-eight power forward Charles Jackson signed a letter of intent to play at Illinois yesterday.

Jackson, a senior at Tri-County High School in Buena Vista, Ga., is the third player to sign with the Illini this season. He averaged 18 points and 13 rebounds per game last year.

Jackson played AAU for Illinois alum Seth Berl and played at the NBA Players’ Association Top 100 Camp last summer.

He is a three-sport athlete who was recruited as a defensive end and made the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Super 11 football team.

“Now that he has decided to concentrate on basketball, his upside is unbelievable,” Illinois head coach Bruce Weber said in a press release. “CJ gives us another physical, low-post presence. He’s a physical specimen for a high school player.”
