Saturday baseball games canceled
April 6, 2007
For the second straight day cold weather in Champaign has forced the Illinois baseball team to cancel its games against Ohio State.
According to Sunday’s ,the game-time temperature was expected to be 31 degrees with 21 mph winds that would have created a 18-degree wind chill. Coaches from both schools made the decision Saturday morning that playing the game would not be in the best interest of the student-athletes from either school.
The teams will play a doubleheader on Sunday starting at 12:05 p.m., consisting of a nine-inning game followed by a seven-inning contest. Big Ten policy mandating the completion of a conference series in a three-day span once the visiting team has left its campus will prevent the teams from making up the two games that were canceled today.
