Women’s golf classic canceled
April 6, 2007
The 2007 Illini Spring Classic has been canceled due to cold temperatures and high winds at Stone Creek Golf Club. The event was scheduled to take place April 6 and 7.
According to a press release from the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, players started competing at 11 a.m. on Friday, but were forced off the course after less than an hour because of the cold temperatures.
With the forecast predicting cold weather for the rest of weekend, the decision was made to cancel the tournament. It is the first time the Spring Classic has been cancelled in the 31-year history of the event, the press release said.
The team will next compete at the IU Invitational on April 9 and 10 at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
