With the upset win within their reach, the Illinois women’s volleyball team fell short against another ranked team, this time against No. 10 Michigan, falling in five games, 27-30, 30-23, 27-30, 30-28 and 13-15. The Illini fall to 8-4 on the year and 0-2 in the Big Ten while the Wolverines remain undefeated at 13-0 and are 1-0 in Big Ten play.

Offensively, Illinois had four players with double-digit kills, with freshman Laura DeBruler leading the way with 18. Senior Vicki Brown had a huge performance, tallying 17 kills and hit .344 to go along with seven blocks.

It was another tough loss for the young Illini squad who had multiple opportunities to take the game. After playing two games in three days against two top-10 teams, Illinois has a whole week off before facing the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing next Friday.
