Sophomore goaltender Mike Burda was outstanding and the Illinois hockey club scored five goals in the third period before blanking Central Oklahoma 7-0.

The Illini (3-0-0) carved up a young Bronchos squad in a physical game, as five different Illini scored, including junior forwards Jordan Pringle and Jason Nemeth, who netted two each. Johnny Liang continued his torrid start to the year, as the junior scored once and recorded two assists in the series opener.

The Illinois attack kept the pressure off Burda, who was congratulated by the entire team after the final buzzer assured the shutout.

The Fighting Illini will look to remain undefeated and sweep the Bronchos tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Ice Arena.
