Big Ten fines Illinois, Ohio State for fight
November 16, 2007
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Big Ten fined Illinois and Ohio State $10,000 each on Thursday and reprimanded their head coaches for a shoving match involving players after last Saturday’s game.
Players from both teams shoved each other, and at least a couple threw punches as they met at midfield of Ohio Stadium following the 28-21 Illini victory.
An Illinois spokeswoman declined comment. Head coach Ron Zook said earlier this week that he didn’t see the incident but planned to watch video to see what happened.
A message left by The Associated Press for Ohio State officials was not immediately returned.
