Illini cap off season with 41-22 win
November 16, 2007
The Illini capped off the regular season in fine fashion Saturday afternoon with a 41-22 win over intrastate rival Northwestern.
The win improved Illinois to 9-3 and all, but assured a Jan. 1st bowl game.
Quarterback Juice Williams continued his strong play and finished the day with 220 yards passing and 136 rushing yards. The offense tallied with 541 total yards.
Former tight end Jeff Cumberland showed why coaches moved him to wide out. The sophomore led the team in receiving with 131 yards and one touchdown and also tallied 18 yards on a reverse.
The Illini break for Thanksgiving and will wait for other conferences finish play and for the bowl situations to finalize.
