Orange Bowl

Kansas has won the Orange Bowl bid after beating Missouri Saturday.

The eighth-ranked Jayhawks will meet No. 5 Virginia Tech on Jan. 3 in Miami. This is the first Bowl Championship Series for the Jayhawks.

The Hokies earned their Orange Bowl spot after beating Boston College for the Atlantic Coast Conference Title.

Wake Forest will compete in the Meineke Bowl in Charlotte, just 80 miles southwest of the school’s campus.

The Demon Deacons will square off against U-Conn, which finished the season as co-champions of the Big East conference.

The two teams face each other Dec. 29 at the Bank of America Stadium.

Insight Bowl

Indiana will head to a bowl game for the first time since 1993.

The Hoosiers will compete against Oklahoma State on New Year’s Eve in Tempe, Ariz.

The Insight Bowl will be the fifth bowl game for the Cowboys in six years.

Sugar Bowl

Georgia will face Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl on Jan.1 in New Orleans.

Fourth-ranked Georgia believed they’d be picked for the BSC championship after six straight wins, but the Bulldogs were passed over for LSU.

LSU will play Ohio State for the title.

Undefeated Hawaii was given an at-large bid to the Bowl Championship Series after defeating Washington Saturday night.

“To compete with a school like Georgia is amazing,” said Hawaii coach June Jones. “It’s the big time.”

Alamo Bowl

Texas A&M; will face Penn State in the Alamo Bowl, setting up a rematch of the 1999 game.

Eight years ago the Nittany Lions shut out the Aggies, 24-0.

The Aggies will represent the Big 12 in the Dec. 29 bowl in San Antonio.
