Despite the loss to Penn State the future of Illinois basketball continues to get brighter.

The Illini received a verbal commitment from Crandall Head. Head, the brother of former Illini Luther Head, is a shooting guard from the Class of 2010 and a four-star recruit on Scout.com who could wind up being the best athlete in his recruiting class.

Head is the latest addition to Weber’s new philosophy of aggressively recruiting the best in-state underclassmen and joins five-star 2010 recruit Jereme Richmond, and 2009 guards D.J. Richardson, Brandon Paul, and Joseph Bertrand as the future of Illinois basketball.

Head’s brother, Luther, helped led the Illini to the 2005 National Championship game and is currently playing in the NBA with the Houston Rockets.
