As the Illini prepare for the Big Ten Tournament and first-round foe Penn State, center Shaun Pruitt was named to third-team All-Big Ten by the media and an honorable mention selection by the coaches.
Pruitt, a senior from Aurora, Ill., leads Illinois in scoring at 12.5 points per game and rebounding, averaging 7.1 per game, and leads the Big Ten in offensive rebounds per game (3.1). Pruitt’s 57 percent field-goal percentage is fourth in the conference.
On Senior Day against Minnesota, Pruitt eclipsed 1,000 points and now sits in 40th place in Illinois history in scoring. The senior has started 29 of 30 games this season and scored in double figures 20 times. Forward Brian Randle was Illinois’ Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.
