Women’s golf in ninth after first two rounds of Badger Invitational

After the first day of the Badger Invitational in Verona, Wis., Illinois is in ninth place. The Illini shot rounds of 313 and 306 on Saturday, good for 43-over par and one stroke behind Maryland and Georgetown, who are tied for seventh. California leads at 17-over par.

The Illini were paced by freshman Hailey Koschmann, who finished the day tied for second at one-under par. Koschmann shot a three-under 69 to lead the tournament after the first round, but a two-over 74 knocked her to a tie for second. She will enter the final round Sunday six strokes behind Wisconsin freshman Jessie Gerry’s score of seven-under par.
