Hockey edges out Ohio State to stay perfect

The top ranked Illini hockey team won by a score of 4-2 against ACHA Division II Ohio State at home Friday night.

After Ohio State scored in the first 20 seconds, the Illini charged back with three unanswered goals. Junior Tom Connell scored with three seconds left in the game on an empty net to seal the victory. He led the team with two goals, while Johnny Liang and Matt Jennings each scored once.

Illinois goaltender D.J. Kohler stopped 23 shots, including a barrage of Ohio State attempts in front of the net in the last 30 seconds.

Ohio State goaltender Dru Delaforet kept the game close with 54 saves on the night.

Illinois remains undefeated on the season with a record of 7-0-0 and extended the winning streak to 45 games.
