The Illinois men’s golf team entered the elite Isleworth Collegiate Invitational with three consecutive wins, but didn’t play their best in the first round. The No. 1 Illini are tied for 14th in the 18 team field after the first of three rounds with a score of 13-over par.

Only No. 6 Alabama managed to be under par, as they lead the tournament at one-under.

Junior Matt Hoffman and sophomore Scott Langley are in the hunt despite a disappointing first-round effort for the Illini. Hoffman and Langley are tied for seventh place after both shooting even-par 72s.

Rounds two and three of the Isleworth are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
