Matchup to Watch: Shonn Greene vs. Illinois defensive line

Iowa is just one win away from becoming bowl eligible, and the team will look to running back Shonn Greene on Saturday to qualify for a spot in postseason play. Greene, one of only two running backs in the nation to rush for 100 yards or more in eight games this season, has compiled 1,154 yards and 10 touchdowns this year.

The Sicklerville, N.J., native’s rushing total this season already ranks eighth-best season in Iowa’s history. Greene rushed for 217 yards on Oct. 18 against a Wisconsin team that beat Illinois last weekend.

Meanwhile, the Illini’s defensive line is led by a trio of seniors in David Lindquist, Derek Walker and Will Davis.

Last weekend in Madison, Wis., the line gave up 163 yards to the Badgers’ running game. Wisconsin ran for eight first downs and a touchdown.

Lindquist, who has gained 50 pounds since joining the team, has 32 total tackles and three sacks so far this season. But if Lindquist and the rest of the line want to pull above .500 on the season, they will have to do more than that to shut down Greene and Iowa’s running game.
