Illini hockey blanks Eastern Michigan

December 5, 2008
The Illinois hockey team kicked off the last series of the semester with a shutout victory of 3-0 against Eastern Michigan.
At home, the Illini scored a goal in each period and junior Mike Burda stopped the few Eastern Michigan chances to hold them scoreless.
With a little over one minute left in the third period, llini forward Mark Ergun and Eastern Michigan leading scorer Joe Schweiger were both disqualified after a scuffle. Both automatically receive suspensions for Saturday’s game.
Illinois gained four points in the CSCHL standings and raised its record to 15-2-0 with the win. The two teams play again Saturday night at the Ice Arena.
