Illini women’s tennis win with sweep

The No. 36 Illinois women’s tennis team swept No. 75 Kansas with a 7-0 victory Friday afternoon at home. The Illini improves to 3-2, while the Jayhawks fall 3-1.

After sweeping all three doubles matches, the Illini kept the momentum going in the singles matches.

Junior Megan Fudge captured Illinois’ first singles win against Kansas’ Edina Horvath in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. Fudge is now 5-0 in singles so far into the season.

The Illini return to the Atkins Tennis Center Sunday for a double header against UIC at 10 a.m. and Illinois State at 3 p.m.
