In its first test without five of its key contributors, the Illini hockey team was overwhelemed, losing 4-1 to No. 1 Lindenwood.

Struggling to get the puck out of their zone all night, the Illini didn’t record a goal until forward Tom Connell scored late in the third period.

To make things worse, starting goaltender Mike Burda was injured and replaced by D.J. Kohler to finish the game out.

The Illini will look to salvage a split in the series on Saturday. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
