Illinois football announces spring schedule

Illinois football released its spring schedule Tuesday, announcing March 14 as the start of spring practice. 

The team will have 15 practices over the course of a month, including two practices away from Champaign. The Illini will practice at Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Chicago on April 3 and at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in Springfield on April 10. Homewood-Flossmoor was a IHSA 8-A state finalist in 2014 and Sacred Heart-Griffin has won back-to-back IHSA 5-A state championships.

The Orange and Blue Spring Game will be held on April 18. The game will begin at 5 p.m. this year after a 2 p.m. start last season and rosters for the spring game will not be announced until the week of the game. Last season, the Blue team blew out the Orange team 38-7 behind two Reilly O’Toole touchdowns and a pick-six from V’Angelo Bentley.
