Six more Illini players were selected on the final day of the MLB draft, bringing the total number of drafted players up to nine.

The Illini tied for having the third most players drafted in the nation.

Jason Goldstein was selected in the 17th round with the 522nd overall pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Next was sophmore Adam Walton with the 613th overall pick in the 20th round by the Baltimore Orioles.

Three pitchers would go off the board next. Nick Blackburn went at 659th overall by the New York Mets, Rob McDonnell would join Goldstein in Los Angeles when he was picked by the Dodgers with the 762nd overall pick and Drasen Johnson would go at the 767th spot taken by the Colorado Rockies.

The final Illini player to be drafted was Ryan Nagle at the 817th pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Three Illini signees were drafted by the MLB as well.

Luke Shilling was drafted in the 20th round by the Texas Rangers. Brenden Spillane was picked in the 34th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates and Jalin McMillan was picked in the 39th round by the Chicago White Sox.

A total of three Illini baseball players were drafted into the MLB by the second day of the draft on Tuesday.

Illinois lefty Tyler Jay was selected by the Minnesota Twins with the sixth overall pick. Jay is the highest Illini that has ever been picked. The next highest player picked was John Ericks by the Saint Louis Cardinals with the 22nd pick in 1988.

The next picked player was Illinois ace Kevin Duchene. Oakland Athletics picked Duchene in the fifth round with the 158th overall pick. The pick comes after Duchene was a second-team All American and First Team All Big-Ten.

The last picked on the second day of the draft was 2015 Big Ten Player of the Year David Kerian. Kerian was selected by the Washington Nationals in the tenth round with the 284th overall pick.
