After one round of voting, The Daily Illini sports staff sent 16 athletes through to the next round of our bracket to determine who the Big Ten’s greatest athlete is.

We did a simultaneous fan vote on Twitter, and the staff and the fans disagreed in three places. First was on the staff’s selection of former Badger football player J.J. Watt over Illini basketball hero Dee Brown. Second was on the staff’s selection of Nebraska’s Allison Weston over Minnesota’s Bruce Smith, and third was the staff’s selection of Purdue’s Drew Brees over Northwestern’s Otto Graham.

Otherwise, our Twitter fan vote matched with our staff’s picks and as we head into the second round, don’t forget to use #DIBracket to weigh in on Twitter.
